EDUCATION
Full Time Employees:

Basic Group Life Insurance protection is provided to eligible full-time employees in the amount of two times the annual salary as recorded at the beginning of each year. The following voluntary benefits are available to full-time employees: Supplemental Life, AD&D Insurance, Cancer Insurance and Long-Term Disability
Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS): All employees appointed to positions designated to work 1,000 hours or more per year must participate in the TMRS. TMRS is a qualified tax-deferred retirement plan under Section 401 of the IRS. Seven (7) percent of gross earnings are deducted each payroll as a pre-tax deduction and deposited into the member account. When an employee becomes vested and retires, the City provides 2-to-1 matching contributions.
Other benefits include Social Security, Tax Saver Program (Section 125 Flexible Spending Account), Deferred Compensation Plans, Direct Deposit, Paid Holidays, Paid Vacation, Sick Leave and Personal Leave.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual. Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in city and department attendance policies and procedures.
- Operate a variety of equipment including trucks, air compressors, rollers, mud-jack, tar pots, concrete mixers, concrete saw, circular and quickie saws, jackhammers, electric drills, water pumps, and other similar equipment and machinery in repairing and installing concrete, asphalt and drainage structures, water and wastewater pipes and appurtenances in various weather conditions.
- Utilize a variety of hand and power tools; assist in routine maintenance of such equipment; assist with collection and cleaning of tools and materials after utilization.
- Provide support to assist division staff in the completion of their duties and responsibilities.
- Inspect and restore equipment fluid levels including oil, fuel, water and transmission fluid; lubricate equipment as needed; report the need for repairs.
- Assist with excavation projects by using manual labor not limited to shoveling by hand and using probing rods to locate leaks and utility lines.
- Complete daily work log and work orders as required by appropriate division staff member.
- Adhere to safety regulations including wearing appropriate clothing, erecting proper barricades and signage and using proper equipment and materials as assigned.
- Locate, install, maintain and repair a variety of water and drainage piping for water distribution including fire hydrants, pipes, valves and service connections; repair waterline breaks; drain water from project site as necessary.
- Inspect and control infiltration problems related to the sewer system; perform preventative maintenance and repair of sewer mains; repair sanitary sewer manholes as needed.
- Setup or assist with setting up traffic safety zones as assigned.
- When assigned to traffic, assist in maintaining streetlights for highways, assist in installation of signs and markings and other traffic operation related duties.
- Assist with the installation or removal of heavy electrical motors.
- Prepare concrete base including setting wood forms and positioning steel; set grade; repair any water utility piping cuts as necessary; pour concrete; remove wooden forms; clean site; assist with concrete finishing including tamping, tacking, edging, joining and floating; spread loam as needed.
- When assigned to streets, assist with operating sanding trucks; distribute sanding materials on roads under freezing and snowy conditions.
- Identify and collect equipment needs for each assigned site; stock truck with materials and supplies as required.
- Answer questions and provide information to the public as necessary including notification of utility construction and emergency work.
- May repair fences as assigned; cut or trim vegetation as requested including trimming trees; mowing, weed eating; remove and transport a variety of debris.
- Respond to emergency situations as required including hazardous and severe weather conditions; work on- call.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- Requires a High School Diploma/GED
- Requires six (6) months experience in general labor operating motorized equipment or hand tools similar to that used in water distribution and/or wastewater collection.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Possession of a valid Class A Texas driver's license or obtain a Class A Commercial license within 90 days of employment. Failure to obtain Class A driver's license within 90 days of employment will result in non-disciplinary termination.
- Obtain Class "II" Wastewater certification from Texas Commission on Environmental Quality within one (1) year following successful completion of probationary period.
- Monday - Friday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
- Rotate on-call duties and some overtime as needed.
