Salary: $20.00/hr. minimum
To provide highly responsible and complex administrative support for professional, effective and efficient services for City staff, departments and the general public; provide training and direction to other support staff as needed.

SUPERVISION
General supervision is provided by the Department Director or designee.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct & Rules of Behavior outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Provide clerical and secretarial support to assist designated upper level, administrative, other technical and field staff in the completion of their duties and responsibilities.
- Compose, prepare and review a variety of memorandums, correspondence, reports, public notices and documents as assigned; complete various forms; prepare and distribute reports for review and use; prepare and maintain a variety of forms used by assigned department or divisions; photocopy reports and other documents as necessary.
- Answer questions and provide information to the public; receive citizen and client complaints and questions and refer to appropriate City staff/departments for resolution.
- Coordinate, review and process payroll and time reporting records for assigned divisions.
- Prepare and maintain a variety of files and filing systems for divisions as needed; prepare, maintain and update various records; research and verify information as requested; purge files as appropriate.
- Screen and direct calls and visitors as appropriate; schedule travel arrangements, reservations and daily operations or meetings as assigned.
- May serve as Notary Public; notarize a variety of documents related to City business.
- Participate in a variety of activities involving travel between various City facilities and to other related external business and government agencies.
- Conduct a variety of surveys related to city operations.
- Provide staff support on a variety of special projects and as needed.
- Order and maintain office supplies and associated materials.
- Balance receipts for petty cash; prepare and maintain reimbursement and expense vouchers and reconcile purchase card statements.
- Maintain and review work and leave time records for division in which you support; and maintain and update personnel files as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE
Four years of progressively responsible experience providing complex administrative assistance and support to a department or division head.
Ability to type 35 wpm.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Possession of a valid driver's license.
If a Notary Public Certification is required for your position, you will need to obtain a valid Notary Public Certification from the State of Texas within 30
days of employment with the City of Mesquite.
Failure to obtain certification will result in non-disciplinary termination.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
