What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Coordinator - Community Media position at City of Medford?

BASIC FUNCTION:
Supports the operation of the City's public access station and community media center. Primarily responsible for all phases of producing community-based productions and media projects for the Medford Community Media cable channels and website.
SUPERVISION:
Works under the direction of the Station Manager. May train and assist with the supervision of Co-op/intern employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Produces off-site ENG, multi-camera, live, and studio TV productions for MCM.
  • Assists members with in-studio productions as needed.
  • Develops and produces programs (i.e., classes on studio/field equipment on a quarterly basis) that increase usage of MCM production equipment and TV studio.
  • Records, broadcasts, monitors, and edits municipal meetings.
  • Provide City Hall booth coverage when needed.
  • Maintains podcast service.
  • Recommends best practices for equipment used in the field by members.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots studio, production computers, and portable equipment.
  • Creates graphic and animated content for the community.
  • Works with the Station Manager to seek out new and innovative content opportunities.
  • Organizes and maintains all MCM equipment, events, and member databases.
  • Converts old files and uploads them to a web-based service, cataloging the meetings by date to be easily searched by the public.
  • Maintains involvement with Medford Connects.
  • Maintains government access archive.
  • Initiates, coordinates, and balances multiple community media, video, and television projects and productions.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Requirement:
  • High School Degree, with (3) years of experience in video/film production, community programming.
  • An Associate Degree in Communication or higher can be substituted for years of experience.
  • Must be able to pass CORI check, SORI check, and a fingerprint background check.
  • Preferred: Experience in public educational and government access channels.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of Apple computers, non-linear editing, and digital media software (Adobe Production Suite).
  • Skills: Possesses effective organizational skills and the ability to prioritize. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Skill with adapting and learning new equipment and software.
  • Abilities: Capable of loading, unloading, and setting up video equipment from a personal vehicle to the site without assistance. Ability to work independently as well as in a team capacity to meet deadlines. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to operate video production and electronic equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
While performing the duties of this position, an employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, in person and by telephone, use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment,
(such as calculators, copiers, typewriters, fax and personal computers) and reach with hands and arms.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Standard indoor office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Will occasionally need to work outdoors or in other facilities during remote/field productions. Due to working with live streams and public meetings, may encounter on occasion inappropriate language and/or inappropriate behavior that requires editing or removal of footage.

HOURS OF WORK: Full-time (40 hours/week) Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 12 PM – 8:30 PM; Friday 9 AM – 5:30 PM (times include 30 min unpaid lunch; may work later on some nights)
SALARY: Non-Union CAF 3 ($1,002.81-$1,100.75/Week)
