To perform a variety of routine and specialized public safety functions in the care and custody of Maintain order, welfare, and discipline among prisoners.
The employee will have the responsibility of:
- Booking, searching, and releasing prisoners
- Maintaining security in all areas of the holding facility
- Administering and supervising mealtime and visitation
- Work assigned shifts using judgement and being expected to handle difficult and emergency situations
- Responding to and investigates incidents, crimes, disturbances, disputes, fights, abuse of drugs, etc. among prisoners
- Taking appropriate actions, which includes, but not limited to physical restraint of unruly prisoners
- Maintaining log of prisoner activities and meals
- Performing maintenance duties such as sweeping and cleaning
- Answering questions from bondsman, lawyers, family members, and courts
- Safe keeping of prisoner property and issuing receipts
- Receiving payments and issue receipts for bonds
- Photographing and scanning prisoner fingerprints
The work environment will require the employee to:
- Occasionally work outside weather conditions
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
- Occasionally be in contact with diseased or combative persons

Required Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; and,
- Six (6) months experience, preferred
Special Requirements:
- Must have a valid Texas driver’s license within sixty (60) days of hire
- Must have a valid driver’s license by date-of-hire
- Pass a thorough background investigation
- Must successfully participate in defensive tactics training and refresher training
- Must work an assigned shift, maybe required to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be bondable
