The Skilled Maintenance Repairer directs, coordinates, and performs skilled parks-related maintenance and repairs, snow removal, and/or waste collection, and does related work as required. The employee in this classification does both manual and coordination work as a lead person responsible for other employees. Under general supervision, the Lead is accountable for employees, tools, and equipment assigned to his/her crew. The employee assigns specific jobs and duties within his/her crew and has the responsibility to see that they are efficiently and correctly performed. The work often necessitates on-the-spot decisions, although general supervision and direction is exercised by department supervisors. The employee in this class operates vehicles and other equipment which requires special skills, as well as a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

- Performs maintenance and repair on plumbing components, including but not limited to sinks, toilets, drinking fountains, and splash pads.
- Coordinates and performs park maintenance and construction and/or waste collection.
- Plans, assigns, and coordinates crews engaged in mowing, trimming, and weed control.
- Performs snow and ice removal for periods of 16 hours or longer.
- Enforces City work and safety rules; advises work crews of necessary safety precautions.
- Trains crew members in proper work methods.
- Enforces quality control and production standards established by supervision.
- Checks parks to determine repairs; maintains and prepares accurate, neat records, documents, information, time, and equipment reports.
- May carry out Digger's Hotline duties.
- May coordinate crews that install and repair playground equipment, park equipment, and park property.
- May coordinate and perform the routine maintenance of park buildings and equipment.
- May coordinate several crews concurrently.
- Coordinates construction techniques and is responsible for tools, equipment, and the work of other employees.
- Works with wood/carpentry applications.
- Operates and coordinates the operation of specialized tools and equipment such as wide area mowers, dump trucks, sewer flushers, plumbing systems, skid-steer loaders, tractors, garbage trucks, material spreaders, chain saws, mowers, paint machines, paint line removers, levels, transits and other tools and equipment typically used in the Parks department.
- Coordinates the proper use and care of tools and equipment used in performing park duties.
- Coordinates obtaining quotes and working with outside vendors or contractors.
- Does related work as required.
- Three years of experience in performing skilled and unskilled construction tasks.
- Carpentry and plumbing experience desired.
- One year of supervising employees.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or ability to obtain certification within probationary period.
- Knowledge of general plumbing standards, materials, and tools.
- Knowledge of common carpentry standards, materials and tools.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards associated with the trade.
- Some knowledge of electrical trade.
- Ability to handle reasonably necessary stress.
- Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and rough sketches.
- Ability to maintain and prepare records.
- Ability to properly and concisely order materials and supplies.
- Ability to ensure safety standards are followed and met.
- Ability to maintain tools and equipment in safe operating conditions.
- Ability to safely operate tools associated with the construction trade.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Task involves the regular, and at times sustained, performance of heavier physical tasks such as walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, working in confined spaces, and lifting or carrying moderately heavy (20-50 pound) items and occasionally very heavy (100 pounds or over) items; or may involve the complex operation of gasoline, electric, or diesel-powered machinery or shop equipment requiring the manipulation of multiple controls, fine adjustments or both; or the sustained operation, on a production basis, of such devices.
- Task involves the frequent use of coordinating and manipulative skills in performing a variety of tasks with the full range of hand tools and shop equipment; or the skilled and complex operation of heavy equipment calling for adherence to exacting standards of depth, grade, dimensions, and contours.

- Must possess a valid driver's license and good driving record.
