What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern-Engineering - DPW-Design position at City of Indianapolis and Marion County?
**This is a temporary/seasonal position.**
Position is responsible project management, including but not limited to, planning, design, construction management and inspection activities. Also, the candidate will work hand in hand with the stormwater, traffic, resurfacing, construction administration, curb and sidewalk, and multi modal sections to learn the responsibilities of each.
Updates and maintains the CIP database, Master needs inventory and other tracking databases that DPW uses for project prioritization.
Performs field inspections to determine the needs of the Capital program.
Attends staff and public meetings to learn public/private interactions of municipal government.

Previous internship experience in engineering or technical field. Effective written and oral communication skills. Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail oriented, ability to prioritize, multi task and meet deadlines. Computer literate (database work experience, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)Ability to independently work on projects to their completion. Identify areas of improvement on processes and report them back to his/her supervisor.
