The Seasonal Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for assisting with the maintenance and landscaping of Idaho Falls Power and Idaho Falls Fiber facilities during the summer months. This position supports the full-time Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Worker by performing routine groundskeeping tasks, helping with minor facility repairs, and ensuring outdoor areas are safe, clean, and visually appealing.

Works under the general supervision of the Facility Services Manager and the direction of the Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Worker.

May perform all or some of the following:
Assists with the maintenance of Idaho Falls Power and Idaho Falls Fiber grounds, including mowing, trimming, weeding, and general landscaping tasks. Duties include helping with the upkeep of outdoor facilities, such as repairing and maintaining irrigation systems, removing trash, and preparing grounds for special projects or events.
This position involves operating and maintaining landscaping equipment, including hand mowers, weed trimmers, and leaf blowers. The worker also performs seasonal tasks such as spreading mulch, pruning trees and shrubs, and assisting with minor concrete and painting repairs as directed.
In collaboration with the full-time Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Worker, the seasonal worker helps with the upkeep of public restrooms at outdoor facilities, including cleaning, restocking supplies, and performing light maintenance.
The role requires safely using a variety of hand and power tools, including shovels, rakes, and power washers, while adhering to all safety protocols. The seasonal worker assists in loading and unloading supplies, moving heavy materials, and supporting general maintenance activities.
Works collaboratively and safely across the utility in a team-oriented environment.

1.Education and Experience:
A. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. AND
B. Prior experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or general labor. OR
C. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
2.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The Seasonal Buildings and Grounds Maintenance Worker should have a basic understanding of landscaping and grounds maintenance techniques to help ensure the proper care and upkeep of Idaho Falls Power properties. Familiarity with operating and maintaining hand tools and small power equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, and leaf blowers, is important for performing daily maintenance tasks effectively. While not required, some knowledge of horticulture, including planting, pruning, and basic irrigation system maintenance, is helpful in supporting healthy and visually appealing landscapes.
A commitment to workplace safety practices is essential, including the proper handling of tools, safe equipment operation, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The seasonal worker should demonstrate good time management and organizational skills, efficiently following instructions, prioritizing tasks, and collaborating with team members. Basic record-keeping skills, such as logging completed tasks, are beneficial for maintaining accurate maintenance records.
Although advanced technical skills are not required, the ability to assist with minor facility upkeep such as cleaning, light painting, and performing simple repairs, contributes to the overall maintenance of Idaho Falls Power properties. A willingness to learn and follow instructions for safely handling tools and performing basic maintenance is essential for success in this role.
3.Required Qualification:
Must pass a background check prior to employment.
Valid Driver’s License
This position demands the ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 80 pounds occasionally. The Groundskeeper must be able to work in all weather conditions and engage in strenuous activities such as walking, standing, stooping, and reaching. Strong communication skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions are crucial for job performance. Additionally, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public is essential for success in this role.
