Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned:
- Teach American Red Cross Lifeguard certification and recertification classes as needed and available.
- Plan, organize, and lead regular aquatic staff trainings and in-services
- Develop and publish a monthly training schedule that meets facility and staff needs
- Ensure trainings align with American Red Cross standards and organizational policies
- Communicate training expectations, schedules, and updates clearly with aquatic staff and supervisors
- Maintain accurate training, attendance, and certification records
- Support a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the aquatic team
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification(required)
- Strong knowledge of lifeguarding skills, rescue techniques, and emergency response
- Previous experience teaching or training lifeguards preferred
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leaderships kills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- High School Diploma or a general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High maturity level and proven record of responsibility.
- Fully competent in all aspects of water safety and emergency rescue techniques
- Language Ability – must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organizations.
- Math Ability–Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
- Computer Skills – Basic word processing skills
- Current Lifeguard Certification
- Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification
- Current Community First Aid Certification
- Current AED Certification
- Current Oxygen Administration Certification
- Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification
- Current Water Safety Instructor Certification
If no certifications are available, they must be obtained in 30 days or less.
