The Clerical Assistant position is a seasonal, part-time position (no benefits) and a preferred hiring rate of $14.93 per hour. The ideal candidate for this position will perform various administrative duties in an office setting.

As the Clerical Assistant, you'll:
  • Receive, process, and prepare data for a variety of records and reports;
  • Maintain files and perform basic research;
  • Assess and prepare vehicle and business personal property tax billings;
  • Access the Department of Motor Vehicles database to add and delete vehicles within the jurisdiction;
  • Check and review a variety of data for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to established standards and procedures;
  • Operate a variety of office equipment in the performance of the job duties, including a computer, fax machine, copier, and calculator. 
Physical Requirements: This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires reaching, fingering, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, operation of machines, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.Minimum Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED with coursework in typing and minimal clerical experience.

As the ideal candidate, you'll have:
  • General knowledge of:
    • Record keeping terminology and methods;
    • Modern office practices and of standard office and accounting equipment.
  • The ability to:
    • Make arithmetical calculations quickly and accurately;
    • Prepare and maintain detailed financial records and reports;
    • Operate personal computers and related software, hardware and peripheral equipment;
    • Work as a member of a team;
    • Perform in a high-paced, multi-task environment;
    • Understand and follow oral and written instructions;
    • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, associates, and the general public.
