POSITION SUMMARY:

Support clerical needs when clerical staff are unavoidably absent.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Possess at least a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.
  2. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of standard office practices and procedures,

equipment, and secretarial techniques.

  1. Effectively demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions and possesses a willingness to learn.
  2. Experience working directly with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  3. Familiarity with equity and inclusion frameworks.  Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities.  Respects the worth, dignity and individual differences of others.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present to diverse audiences to foster professional relationships and express and/or exchange ideas.  
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  6. Proficiency in the use of a variety of office/instructional equipment and technology with experience using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and email.
  7. Demonstrated leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and the community.
  8. Bilingualism is not required but is recommended.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Welcome all visitors and ensure all visitors have passes (as applicable)
  2. Perform all secretarial and clerical duties pertaining to the administrative functions of the office including: answering phones, checking in visitors, ensuring the front office desk is staffed at all times, sorting mail, checking fax machine, copying materials for staff.
  3. Keep the office environment attractive and up-to-date.
  1. Takes all industry standard precautions to protect students, staff, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  2. Follows appropriate safety procedures and properly maintains equipment.
  3. Maintains confidentiality when appropriate.
  4. Complies with and supports school division policies, regulations, procedures, and the HCPS Strategic Plan.
  5. Effectively performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Light work, lifting up to 25 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.  Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; and subject to inside and outside environmental conditions. Regular contact with staff members and students is required.  Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
