JOB SUMMARY

Provides information and assistance to citizens. Receive payments from customers and makes customer service a priority. Balances cash drawers assists the Account Clerk and performs other related duties as required.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Finance and Grants Manager.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Makes customer service a priority; is the front-line person in assisting customers.
  • Sets up new and transfer water accounts, disconnects services, and sends service requests through service orders.
  • Receives payments from customers, posts payments to accounts via computer terminal and/or automated document processor (scanner).
  • Responds to customer inquiries at the counter, drive thru, telephone and via e-mail. Prepares informational hand outs and payment extensions for customers.
  • Balances cash drawers and processes cash collected on a daily basis and in a timely manner.
  • Processes incoming mail payments, night drop payments, payments through remit, money and receipts from other city departments, and bank deposit payments.
  • Processes returned mail by documenting the account, updating information as necessary, and contacting the accountholder.
  • Saves daily receipt registers to the server.
  • Enters and submits for review all adjusting entries to the general ledger.
  • Responsible for filing various documents to include journal entry backup, payment coupons, refund information, correspondence, and reports.
  • Assists with the creation of reports, tables, and spreadsheets, as necessary.
  • Provides clerical support, administrative support and filing to other Finance (Utility Administration) staff and distributes mail within the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Daily attendance and promptness are required. Normal business hours are – Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or GED. Some college-level courses in Accounting, Business Management or Business Administration preferred.
