TITLE: CODE ENFORCER – PART TIME
DEPARTMENT: COMMUNITY SERVICES
STATUS: NON-EXEMPT PART TIME (HOURLY)
PAY GRADE: 10 ($19.53 - $29.89 HOURLY)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Enforcement/investigation of the City codes of ordinances. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Community Services. Code compliance requires community engagement for the purpose of educating and informing property owners up to and including the issuance of citations.
1. Conducts inspections.
2. Assists the Director with the review and approval of Level I Development plans review and conducts project compliance inspections for all levels of development.
3. Responds to a wide variety of calls and complaints involving municipal violations of law.
4. Resolves violations through voluntary compliance or, if necessary, initiates procedures to formally process a violation through the appropriate agencies up to and including the Office of the State Attorney.
5. Conducts research to develop data and information, as required. Prepares reports summarizing research findings.
6. Answers phone and provides information to the public.
7. Provides testimony in code violation matters.
8. Keeps records and makes reports of activities and cases filed or forwarded for filing.
9. Inputs, accesses and retrieves information from a computer.
10. Receives and disposes of complaints.
11. Initiates and carries to completion special programs as directed by the Department Head.
12. Prepares various communications.
13. Prepares and submits reports. Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of the Code of Ordinances of the City.
- Knowledge of the Department's rules, regulations, policies and procedures as well as relevant training programs and content.
- Knowledge of the geography of the City, proximate incorporated areas and the City's road network.
- Ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to enforce ordinances with firmness, tact and impartiality and to deal courteously with the general public.
- Ability to write clear and concise reports, memoranda, directives and letters.
- Ability to keep records and make reports from such records.
- Ability to input, access, and retrieve data from a computer.
- Ability to operate spreadsheet programs and other types of software to load and manipulate data and produce reports.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with city staff and the general public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited two-year college or university with an Associate’s Degree in a related field.
(A comparable amount of training, education or experience can be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Florida Driver's License (Mandatory)
Code Enforcement Certification Level I – III (Preferable)
