Job Summary:
The Municipal Deputy Clerk assists the City Clerk in performing administrative, clerical, and record-keeping duties to ensure the efficient operation of the municipality. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with elected officials, city staff, and the public. The Deputy Clerk may act as the City Clerk in their absence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing and maintaining official city records, including ordinances,
resolutions, and minutes of city council meetings.
- Help coordinate and attend city council meetings, public hearings, and other official
functions, including agenda preparation and minute-taking.
- Process applications and maintain records for business licenses, permits, and other
municipal documents.
- Maintain and ensure compliance with open records laws by responding to public records
requests.
- Oversee and assist with financial tasks such as accounts payable, payroll, and budget
tracking as assigned.
- Process water bills, including billing, payments, and customer inquiries.
- Provide customer service to residents, businesses, and officials, answering inquiries and
resolving concerns.
- Serve as the City Clerk in their absence, handling duties as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Experience in administrative or clerical roles, preferably in municipal government.
- Strong knowledge of municipal laws, open records policies, and government procedures
(or ability to learn).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and record-keeping software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask.
Work Environment:
Office setting with occasional evening meetings.
Requires sitting for extended periods and occasional lifting of records or office supplies.

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
