JOB TITLE: Deputy Superintendent of Operations
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
ANNUAL CALENDAR DAYS: 12 months, 240 days
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have valid Alabama Certification in Education Administration, Educational Leadership, or Educational Supervision.
- Must provide three (3) letters of professional reference within the last three years.
- Must provide official transcript(s) for all degrees and administrative courses.
- Must submit all qualifications and credentials by the established deadline.
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years as a building level administrator and/or district administrator.
REQUIREMENT
Completion of ethics training as required by Ala. Code § 36-25-1, et seq, within 90 days of date of hire. The ethics training video may be viewed at https://ethics.alabama.gov/training/intro.aspx and a copy of the certificate must be provided to Human Resources for placement in your personnel file no later than 90 days after applicant’s date of hire. Applicants who have already undergone this video ethics training do not have to undergo the training again but are required to provide a copy of the certificate of completion to the Human Resources Department.
THIS POSITIONS SUPERVISES
Transportation, Student Services, Facilities and Grounds Maintenance, Child Nutrition Program, Safety and Security, Assistant Principals, Support Staff, and responsible for the school calendar.
DUTIES, include but are not limited to:
- Provides leadership over the collective operations (non-academic) program for the school system.
- Works in close collaboration with Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction.
- Assists Superintendent with day-to-day operational functions of the school system.
- Supervises and evaluates performance of those under leadership; assists with personnel assignments in areas of supervision.
- Works in conjunction with Chief School Financial Officer on budgets related to areas of assignment.
- Represents, or assigns designee as representation of, OCS at required functions.
- Directs the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, and files.
- Enforces general board policies and specific department level policies and procedures and issue coaching/disciplinary documentation to employees as necessary.
- Coordinates the investigation of accidents, injuries or unsafe conditions, and ensures a comprehensive and effective safety program is in effect.
- Examines all contacts related to school/system operations.
- Responsible for capital projects and bid processes.
- Any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
SALARY
- $115,027.00 - $166,651.00
