- Limited Hours: Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12 month period.
- Pension System: Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.

Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:
The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department is a nationally accredited department and four time National Gold Medal Award winner for Parks and Recreation Excellence. This position provides direct leadership and support to children and adults with disabilities in traditional recreation programs operated by Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department. The counselor will: 1) ensure participant’s safety 2) create and implement the participant’s inclusion action plan, 3) communicate with parents, supervisor, and center director regarding participant, 4) assist staff to make adaptations or modifications to programs/activities, 5) support and encourage the participant to engage in all activities with other participants, 6) close supervision and attentive to participant’s needs 7) some personal care and 8) monitoring and modifying behaviors. Work is performed under the supervision of a higher-level employee and is reviewed through conferences and observation of performance or completed assignments.
This position is Non-Exempt under FLSA policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's license
- 1 years’ experience working with persons with disabilities
- 1 years summer camp experience
An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):
- Possession of current CPR, AED, and first aid certifications
- Behavior Intervention Training
