  • Hourly Employment: Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.
  • Limited Hours: Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12-month period.
  • Pension System: Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.
While roster positions do not include benefits, they are often a pathway to full-time, benefited employment with the City. Many of our current full-time employees started in roster positions, and we encourage you to explore this opportunity as a potential first step in your career with us.

Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about building better lives and a better community for the position of Customer Service Assistant at Smith Active Adult Center, which serves adults ages 50 and better. Under the direction of the Center Director, this person will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the center, including the administrative, operational, and programming requirements of the center. The Customer Service Assistant will serve as the front-line staff for the center and is responsible for greeting visitors and participants; responding to inquiries for classes, activities, events, services, etc. with appropriate and accurate information; registering participants and collecting fees for passes, classes and activities; answering the telephone and providing accurate information to callers; monitoring groups and individuals using the center; assisting with activities and programs as needed; keeping accurate records such as fees collected, registrations and attendance; attending and participating in staff meetings and staff trainings; and providing outstanding customer service.

This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Experience as a receptionist or front desk attendant
  • Microsoft Office Software experience (i.e. Excel, Word, Powerpoint)

An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience using recreation registration software (i.e. RecTrac)
  • CPR/AED Certification (or able to attain certification within 6 months)
