About the Role:The Construction Inspector (Roster Laborer) performs routine and quality-control inspections of contractor and internal maintenance work to ensure compliance with City standards.
Key Responsibilities:Conduct field inspections of contractor work to ensure compliance with approved plans and City of Greensboro specifications
Perform quality control inspections of maintenance work completed by Water Resources Operations staff
- Conduct field tests to verify proper operation of water distribution and collection systems
- Document inspection findings, identify deficiencies, and communicate issues clearly
- Monitor work progress and verify that corrective actions are completed
- Work closely with contractors, crews, and supervisors to ensure quality and consistency in field operations
- Work is performed primarily outdoors, with exposure to varying weather conditions
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and navigating active construction sites
- May involve working near heavy equipment, open trenches, and utility systems
- Must be able to follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to read and follow plans, specifications, and instructions
- Comfortable working independently in a field environment
- Good communication skills when working with contractors and City staff
- Dependable and consistent in following through on inspections and documentation
- Willingness to learn water system operations and inspection processes
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED
- 5 years of Water & Construction experience
- Valid class C Driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years Supervisory Experience in Water & Sewer Construction
- 2 Years of Experience using EAM Work Order System
