City of Greensboro – Admin Office Support (Roster)
Hourly Rate: $16.55
- Hourly Employment: Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.
- Limited Hours: Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12 month period.
- Pension System: Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.
The City of Greensboro is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused individual to join our Code Compliance team as an Administrative Support professional. This office-based position plays a critical role in supporting the Code Compliance Division's enforcement of housing standards, abandoned vehicle regulations, and property maintenance codes.
The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving and entering complaints into the designated software system, responding to public records requests, and providing assistance to walk-in customers. Duties also include preparing daily correspondences (including certified and regular mailings) related to Notices of Violation, processing the release of impounded vehicles, and managing accurate and timely case data entry. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Receive and enter complaints into the department’s tracking system
Respond to public records requests in compliance with applicable laws and policies
- Assist walk-in customers with Code Compliance inquiries
- Prepare and process official correspondences related to:
- Minimum Housing Code Violations
- Junked and Abandoned Motor Vehicles
- Nuisance Lot Violations
- Process documentation for release of impounded vehicles
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry for code enforcement cases
- Support departmental staff with other administrative tasks as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Exhibit stewardship of public resources and report irregularities in procedures or policies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- One (1) year of clerical or administrative office support experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and maintaining accurate records.
- Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Office Administration, Business, or a related field.
- Two (2) or more years of administrative experience in a government or code compliance environment.
- Familiarity with municipal code enforcement processes and terminology.
- Experience working with customer request software or records management systems.
- Bilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish/English) are a plus.
