The City of Georgetown is currently accepting applications for the position of Shift Supervisor with the Georgetown/Scott County 911 Dispatch Center. Applications must be completed online. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential: Supervises Telecommunicators. Performs telecommunicator duties; prepares work schedules; approves time off for Telecommunicators. Oversees the scheduling of required training. Receives information by way of radio and telephone, and transmits to public safety agencies in order of importance during assigned shift. Runs operator's license checks, registration checks and wanted persons checks on computer. Monitors active calls for service. Prepares and maintains files as requested and performs supervisory checks on files as needed. Calls wrecker services as needed. Ensures departmental policy and procedures are adhered to.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Training and/or Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent (G.E.D.). All required certifications and special training per KRS relating to telecommunications, supplemented by 2 years of directly related experience.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge: Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations. Knowledge of public safety emergency services operating procedures. Knowledge of the geography of the county, including the location of streets and roads, major buildings, etc. General knowledge of Kentucky Labor Laws. Knowledge of City Policy relating to personnel procedures. General knowledge of KRS relating to a fulltime dispatcher employed by a police department.
Skills: Skill in the use of radios/telephones, and computers. Basic map reading skills and comprehension.
Abilities: Ability to supervise Telecommunicators while performing the duties of Telecommunicator. Ability to remain calm during emergency situations, for long periods of time. Ability to prioritize calls. Ability to analyze complex situations and execute effective courses of action. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to operate computer terminal. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officers, employees, other public safety departments/agencies, and the general public. Must be able to effectively and adequately schedule personnel for assigned shift. Possess the ability to effectively motivate and supervise assigned personnel to shift.
SPECIAL LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: Valid Kentucky drivers license required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Certification Requirements: Must obtain certification as a telecommunicator during required time period following employment, and Link/NCIC, operations per KRS.
Training: Must have ability to complete required training, including required annual training and LINK/NCIC operator.
Availability: Must be able to work irregular hours, nights/weekends/holidays etc.

Physical Demands:
Lifting: Work is typically performed in an office setting requiring intermittent sitting, standing, or stooping. Lifting objects (less than twenty-five pounds) is a requirement.

Vehicle Operations: May occasionally.
