General Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential: This position shall serve as special administrative assistant to the Mayor. Composes or, types from rough draft, all correspondence, reports and other materials for the Mayor, while ensuring all written materials and correspondence are grammatically correct. Uses appropriate judgment and discretion in maintaining appointment calendar for Mayor; committing him/her for events and meetings. Attends meetings as the Mayor’s liaison at his/her request. Coordinates Mayor’s actions and agenda for City Council meetings. Processes incoming mail. Serves as phone system operator for City Hall; using appropriate discretion and judgment while answering telephones and interacting with the public. Organizes and arranges for janitorial services for City Hall. Other duties as required.
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications/Requirements;
Training and/or Experience: Associate degree in Public Administration; Business administration or closely related field supplemented by three years work experience. Additional closely related work experience (including administrative/supervisory) may be
substituted for educational training on a year-per-year basis.
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge: Knowledge of office procedures and equipment; proper English, spelling, punctuation, grammar and filing. Must know all city departmental functions in order to properly address needs of Mayor, staff and citizens. Must use tact and courtesy in dealing with the public and have appropriate telephone etiquette.
Abilities: Typing accurately and efficiently; courtesy and tact in receiving callers, giving and obtaining information, and making proper disposition of problems
Skills: Competent use of Microsoft Office and other standard office equipment; organization.
Special Licensing Requirements: Valid Kentucky driver’s license required.

Physical Demands:
Lifting: Work is typically performed in an office setting requiring intermittent sitting, standing, or stooping. Lifting objects (less than twenty five pounds) is a requirement.

Salary : $45,995 - $73,544
