The Position
Under general direction, you will perform essential public safety work involving the protection of life and property. This role requires responding to emergency incidents, performing fire suppression, providing high-level emergency medical care, and engaging in fire code enforcement, public education, and station maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Emergency Response: Operate fire apparatus and equipment to perform fire suppression, rescue, and essential public service functions.
- Advanced Medical Care: Perform duties associated with providing emergency medical care to the sick and injured, administering necessary medications, and following departmental SOPs/protocols. Must successfully complete yearly competency testing for high-risk procedures.
- Technical Rescue: Respond to hazardous materials incidents and perform functions related to the level of certification (HAZ-MAT Operations and Technician Level).
- Training & Mentoring: Attend all mandatory in-service training and mentor/evaluate other employees and students during probationary periods and internships.
