We also offer a competitive pay rate that acknowledges your valuable experience. If you are a Certified Officer with more than 5 years of experience, your pay will be set at the rate for your current years of experience less one year.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under general direction of a superior officer, performs police duties in enforcing federal, state, and local laws and ordinances; performs related work as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Patrols the city on foot and by vehicle on regularly assigned shift enforcing federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
• Responds to calls received during shift, takes proper action, and prepares accurate reports.
• Issue court citations for traffic violations; appears in court when necessary.
• Makes arrests.
• Serves legal documents for the courts.
• Controls traffic at fires, accidents, parades, etc.
• May operate breathalyzer and radar equipment.
• Secures the scene of crimes and accidents, conducts preliminary investigations, gathers evidence, interviews witnesses, and prepares accurate reports.
• May be assigned to perform criminal investigative or other specialized duties.
• Provides security for business and homes as requested.
• Assists in emergency situations; may administer first-aid.
• May issue parking violations.
• Participates in approved law enforcement training courses.
