As a Construction Inspector II, you’ll do more than review plans—you’ll help ensure the successful delivery of critical projects that keep Fort Worth thriving. From large-diameter water and sewer mains to storm drainage and paving projects, your expertise will help guarantee quality, safety, and compliance every step of the way.
In This Role, You Will
✅ Oversee construction projects for compliance with plans, specifications, and contracts
✅ Build strong working relationships with inspectors, project managers, contractors, utilities, and the public
✅ Apply and grow your knowledge of modern inspection methods

Minimum Qualifications
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting; depending on assignment. Incumbents may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises.
Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.

Minimum Qualifications
- HS Diploma/GED
- Two (2) years of construction or inspection experience involving the construction and maintenance of public works, utility systems, and structures
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must pass the physical
- Microsoft Office, computer software skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Three (3) or more years’ experience construction utility, storm drainage, or concrete/asphalt paving
- TCEQ water distribution license
- Ensure quality and safety by inspecting work and materials on public works projects—keeping construction in compliance with codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Play a key role in project success by coordinating change orders with supervisors and project managers, while keeping contractors up to date on changes.
- Be the eyes and ears in the field—observing, documenting, and reporting on contractor work throughout every stage of construction.
- Champion safe practices by ensuring that all safety procedures are followed on-site.
