Workdays & Hours: Monday โ€“ Friday 8am โ€“ 5pm; Some evening/weekend work required. This is an in-person position with ability to work a hybrid schedule following completion of the probationary period.

A Neighborhood Program Coordinator is available with the City of Fort Worth Neighborhood Services Neighborhood Improvement Program. This program aims to enhance quality of life and public safety through targeted capital investments, infrastructure upgrades, and neighborhood capacity-building, primarily in underserved communities. These programs are yearly initiatives focused on improving aesthetics, safety, and economic vitality through specific projects and community engagement. This is a full-time temporary position approved based upon federal grant funding availability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Three (3) years of experience in a city/government/community setting, organizing urban planning, development, social or human services, or a closely related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experienced and knowledgeable in local government administration of capital improvement, community development, and municipal procurement, community engagement and planning
  • Experience with completing legal contracts and working through city purchasing processes
  • Adept with managing projects at various stages and balancing competing priorities
  • Experience in marketing, communications, and/or community event coordination
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at a variety of levels, from community members to members of city leadership and administration

The Neighborhood Program Coordinator Job Responsibilities Include

  • Implement and manage capital programs including local, state, and federal funding.
  • Perform data analysis for grants and projects.
  • Lead The Neighborhood Improvement Program that focuses on revitalizing neighborhoods throughout the city.
  • Draft Mayor and Council (M&Cs) โ€“ this is a formal departmental request to City Council for permission to take action on a specified matter. M&Cโ€™s are submitted on the City Councilโ€™s meeting agenda and may be voted on separately. An M&C is generally viewed as the City Councilโ€™s official approving order of action.
  • Partner with external partner/stakeholders to execute contracts and administer programs throughout the community.
  • Oversee multiple projects with multiple city departments to ensure completion of neighborhood improvement projects.
  • Organize work projects within a team environment and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Effectively manage time, handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Coordinating programs and services to improve quality of life.

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work โ€“ Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
