What You'll Do This internship puts you alongside Transportation Engineering professionals supporting real construction and capital improvement projects across Fort Wayne. You'll gain hands-on exposure to inspection, documentation, and field operations-seeing firsthand how infrastructure projects are built, monitored, and completed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with field inspections and basic testing to help ensure projects meet plans and safety standards
- Document project progress through photos, reports, and field notes
- Support pavement data tracking and updates in the Pavement Management System
- Attend project and pre-construction meetings to observe planning and coordination
- Assist engineering and survey staff with measurements, quantities, and data collection
What You Bring | Education & Experience
- Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying, or a related field
- Strong interest in transportation, infrastructure, or public works
- Willingness to work outdoors and in office settings
- Strong communication skills and the ability to apply basic math in real-world situations
Preferred Certifications
- Valid Indiana Driver's License (if operating a City vehicle)
