City of Fort Wayne – Fleet Garage
Position: Master Level Technician – Light Duty Schedule: 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., may vary
What You'll Do:
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on city vehicles (SUVs, cars, trucks, vans)
- Diagnose and repair complex automotive and computerized systems
- Use diagnostic software and tools for cost-effective repairs
- Maintain clean and safe work areas
- Assist parts personnel with identifying and ordering correct parts
- Provide roadside assistance and vehicle make-ready services
- Train and support mid-level and entry-level technicians
- Serve as back-up to the Service Writer – Foreman as needed
Must-Have Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent with 12 years of skilled mechanic experience
- Knowledge of internal combustion and diesel engines, automotive apparatus, and parts fabrication
- Valid Indiana driver's license; CDL B with airbrake endorsement within 90 days of hire
- Ability to use scan tools and fleet management software
