This position is located within the City’s Blight Division, which focuses on neighborhood improvement.
This position is a temporary, fixed-term assignment with an expected duration of three (3) months from the date of appointment. Employment under this position does not constitute permanent employment.

- Performs pick and shovel work on asphalt, concrete and gravel.
- Loads and unloads trucks with a variety of materials.
- Lifts and loads sludge, debris, etc.
- Cleans clarifiers, chlorine contact tanks, barscreens, etc.
- Makes pavement markings and sign installation.
- Assists with the removal, storing, and placing of equipment and building supplies.
- Cuts grass, plants and trims trees, tends to landscaping, flowerbeds, and nursery projects.
- Must be able to operate a light or medium-duty truck or ATV. May operate other non-driven power equipment and perform simple maintenance.
- Simple building maintenance including but not limited to painting, custodial, etc.
- May perform other duties as required.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Preferably the ability to read and write.
- Ability to follow simple oral instructions.
- Ability to perform strenuous manual labor including lifting.
- Ability to withstand exposure to variable weather conditions and to perform work which is generally out of doors.
- Ability to meet the physical, mental and visual standards of the job.
- Ability and willingness to work in a manner that will not needlessly endanger the safety to one's self, other persons, and equipment.

- Must possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan driver's license.
