- Create and publish content for the Department’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, etc.)
- Develop short-form videos, graphics, and written content highlighting department services, events, and community stories
- Assist in maintaining and executing the Department’s content calendar
- Capture photo and video content at city events, meetings, and community programs
- Ensure all content aligns with City branding, messaging, and accessibility standards
- Collaborate with departments to translate complex information into clear, public-friendly content
- Monitor social media engagement and respond or escalate inquiries as appropriate
- Track and report basic analytics (engagement, reach, impressions)
- Stay informed on social media trends and recommend innovative approaches for civic engagement
- Performs other assigned duties.
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field (preferred)
- 2 (two) years of experience in content creation, social media management, or digital communications
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Position requires the ability to work at night, on weekends, and during holidays.
- Knowledge of City policies and procedures;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing; and
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials;
- Knowledge of major social media platforms and content trends
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to simplify government information
- Photography, videography, audio, and editing skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism and accuracy in public communications
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work at night, on weekends, and during holidays;
- Ability to operate small equipment used in the performance of essential job functions;
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with City administration, other employees, and the general public.
