- Plans, organizes, and instructs water fitness classes.
- Maintains class attendance and course records.
- Sets up and breaks down equipment for each class.
- Promotes public relations with facility users by receiving and responding to their questions.
- Performs general housekeeping practices in the aquatic facility.
- Ensures the safety of class participants.
- Maintains current certifications.
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and
- Valid Driver’s License.
- One or more years of experience working with clients in one-on-one training or small group training at a private or public health and fitness facility.
- Reliable source of transportation.
- Position requires the ability to work at night, weekends, and during holidays. Flexible schedule: hours will be set by the Aquatics Management Staff.
- American Red Cross CPR/AED and Standard First Aid certification required.
- Water Fitness Instructor certification. AEA (Aquatic Exercise Association), ACE (American Council on Exercise), ASFA (American Sports and Fitness Association) Certification, or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of City policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Skill in communicating effectively both orally and in writing; and
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials.
- Skills in swimming, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and first aid.
- Current instruction techniques; current water aerobics techniques
- Skills in communicating effectively both orally and in writing; and
- Ability to be proactive in regard to safety precautions, to recognize emergencies, and to take appropriate action.
- Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
- Ability to handle all swimmers and patrons in a professional manner.
- Ability to ascertain priorities and meet deadlines and objectives.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
