Description / Position Overview

Maintenance Technician II – Garden of the Gods

About the Job: In this position, you will perform essential maintenance and operational tasks and projects at Garden of the Gods Park. You will also help to keep up with the demands that nearly 4 million visitors place on the park annually. This position will also help to provide a safe, attractive, and sustainable park experience.

This position is subject to budget required furloughs to be implemented in the 2026 calendar year, and any furloughs subsequently approved.

As a Maintenance Technician II You Will

  • Complete daily park maintenance, including removal of trash and litter, clear trails of debris
  • Clean park facilities and restrooms; remove graffiti; and provide snow removal
  • Maintain existing trail features and landscaping; restore natural areas; and provide noxious weed treatment
  • Complete daily operational assignments, including opening and closing park gates and facilities; perform traffic control
  • Assist with planning and executing trail maintenance and construction projects; purchase materials
  • Organize, coordinate, and lead volunteer events
  • Provide information about park rules and regulations to visitors

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:

Knowledge Of

  • Methods and techniques used in general construction, maintenance, janitorial, and repair
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices
  • Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations

Ability to:

  • Safely operate assigned vehicles and various equipment, hand and power tools, and machinery
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships

Minimum Qualifications

We value a diverse range of qualifications and experiences. Our organization views each year of further education as equivalent to each year of relevant work experience, and each year of additional relevant work experience as equivalent to each year of required education.

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED).
  • Three years of full-time, professional experience in a related field.
  • Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver’s license not subject to restrictions.
