Description / Position Overview
About the Job: How many people can boast that they work on one of the most iconic mountains in the world? In this position, you will perform a variety of maintenance duties in support of Pikes Peak - America's Mountain with fleet maintenance as your primary responsibility. Our PPAM road crew, facilities maintenance, and fleet maintenance staff will support you with every turn of the wrench.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, with some weekend and holiday work required. Traditional work hours are 7am to 3:30pm, dependent upon snowstorms.
Work Location: 5450 Pikes Peak Highway, Cascade, CO
This is a seasonal (at-will) position with benefits limited to those required by applicable state and federal laws, which include Worker's Compensation, Medicare, Unemployment Insurance, and PERA (Public Employees' Retirement Association).
Approximate dates of employment will be May - October. Scheduled hours will vary based on department needs. Total hours worked will not exceed 1,500 annually.
As a SEASONAL – Pikes Peak – America's Mountain (PPAM) Fleet Maintenance Worker, you will:
- Essential responsibility of picking up and delivering fleet equipment repair parts to fleet technician
- Actively maintain a safe and secure work environment by adhering to risk management safety policies and guidelines
- Report all safety issues or concerns to the appropriate Supervisor
- Properly maintain and care for PPAM equipment and tools
- Assist in documentation of all scheduled/unscheduled fleet work performed
- Ensure that PPAM shop fleet parts department is properly stocked
- Assist fleet technician by moving vehicles as needed and delivering vehicles to other repair facilities for sublet repairs
- Ensure the cleanliness of the PPAM shop fleet parts department by disposing of used boxes and trash and sweeping floors
- Assist with fleet maintenance tasks like light-duty fleet oil changes, filter changes, tire rotations, equipment repair, and washing/cleaning
- Assist with troubleshooting fleet mechanical issues
- Conduct preventive fleet maintenance tasks
- Operate tools and equipment under the guidance of a fleet technician
- Perform other duties as assigned that support the mission and vision of PPAM
We are looking for candidates who have the ability to
- Ability to operate a wide variety of vehicles safely on the mountain
- Ability to operate/ use power tools, hand tools and precision tools safely
- Ability to work with hands, tie knots, repetitive motion etc.
- Ability to do physical work, stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive motions
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to follow directions and implement tasks with little to no supervision
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to operate two-way radios
Minimum Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
- Reliable transportation to Pikes Peak - America's Mountain jobsite prior to or during a snowstorm
- Consistent form of communication (mobile phone)
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of automotive maintenance experience
- Experience working in an outdoor setting, mechanical, and physical work history
- A high school diploma or GED certificate
- A clean driving record
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of vehicles
- Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
- Ability to handle various tools and heavy equipment
Additional Information
Work is performed in an outdoor environment with exposure to extreme weather conditions, high traffic areas, and at an altitude up to 14,115 feet.
This position is located in Cascade, CO. Employees are responsible for their own transportation to and from the workplace.
Regular attendance and a flexible availability work schedule is essential to the performance of this job. Some snow apparel gear will be provided.
This position requires the ability to walk and stand for extended periods, work around moving vehicles and wildlife, stand, sit, stoop, walk, climb, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds occasionally. Potential exposure to hostile or aggressive PPAM guests may be encountered.
