The City of Clinton is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of FULL-TIME UTILITY MAINTENANCE TECH. Under occasional supervision, maintains right-of-ways to ensure safe electric and water/sewer and public works operations. Performs minor repairs on city-owned facilities as directed. Position is subject to emergency condition recall of essential personnel and may be required to provide support to other departments in an emergency. This position requires random alcohol and drug testing under Federal Department of Transportation laws. Performs related work as assigned. Subject to emergency callback. Reports to the Right-of-Way Division Manager or assigned supervisor.
Requirements: Requirements include, but are not limited to: (1) Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and have proof of a 4-year High School Diploma or GED. (2) Position requires a valid drivers' license minimum Class B CDL and a good driving record. (3) Position requires, but is not limited to, extensive and frequent strenuous physical labor, walking, stooping, bending, and frequently lifting weights up to 50 lbs. (4) Requires possession of or ability to obtain Electrical Line Clearance Certification (5) Requires working from various heights in a bucket truck and/or utility pole (6) Work is predominately outside in a variety of climatological conditions year round. (7) Successful passing of a pre-employment physical and drug screening is required. (8) Position is subject to ongoing random drug and alcohol testing under Federal DOT guidelines.
