Professional Standards Research Analyst
Performs a wide range of professional and analytics staff work to support the functions and operations of the Office of Professional Standards, which investigates police misconduct. Administers the case management and research database for the office. Performs complex quantitative and qualitative analysis of police complaints. Prepares detailed bi-weekly, monthly, and annual reports on patterns in complaints, workload and investigation outcomes. Plans, organizes and conducts data-driven evaluations of police department policies, practices and programs. Prepares reports and recommendations pertaining to data-driven findings. Posts complaint reports from the database to the OPS website on a monthly basis. Tracks and maintains disciplinary files based on Officer discipline recommended by the Civilian Police Review Board. Develops new methods of collecting data and new error-checking programs to ensure timely and reliable data collection. Researches and surveys comparable jurisdictions with civilian oversight to determine how they conduct police complaint investigations and review processes. Assists in developing, recommending, and coordinating the implementation of new procedures for data collection, analysis, and reporting. Plans, schedules, coordinates, and assigns work for other agency employees as directed. Perform other job-related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a closely related field from an accredited four-year college or university is required. Three years of full time paid experience performing statistical analysis and research. (Substitution: A Master's Degree in the above-described fields may substitute for two of the required years of experience.) Must have the following skills: excellent customer service, communication, and telephone skills, attention to detail, multi-tasking, capacity for independent judgment, computer proficiency, familiarity with statistical analysis software, file organization. Will be required to pass a background investigation.

A Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a closely related field from an accredited four-year college or university is required. Three years of full time paid experience performing statistical analysis and research. (Substitution: A Master's Degree in the above-described fields may substitute for two of the required years of experience.) Must have the following skills: communication and presentation skills, telephone skills, attention to detail, multitasking, capacity for independent judgment, computer proficiency, familiarity with statistical analysis software, file organization. Will be required to pass a background investigation. Direct experience with Power BI, Python, SQL or equivalent programs is preferred.
