Airport Assistant Administrator

Examples of Duties

Under general direction, performs major daily and project/program based administrative duties. Recommends and administers divisional/departmental policies and procedures. Prepares regular and special reports related to divisional/departmental operations. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Business/Public Relations or closely related field from a four-year accredited college or university required. Two years of full-time paid experience in government or private industry office administration required. (Substitution: Two years of any equivalent combination of education, training and experience may substitute for each year of college education lacking.) Must be able to operate a personal computer with Microsoft Office Suites.

Additional Requirements

  • Must successfully complete a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) 10-year fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check and employment background check and Security Threat Assessment.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
  • Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 35 pounds.
  • A valid State of Ohio Driver’s License is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree.
  • SHRM-Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) Certification
  • Experience working in an airport or municipality.

Duties & Responsibilities

Under administrative directions, performs administrative support services for the leadership team. This is a shared administrative support service and will assist multiple sections. This person is required to utilize their technical and organizational skills and perform at a high level as part of a dynamic team. Independently manage multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities and deadlines, screen and prioritize communications and opportunities from external and internal sources and organize and maintain administrative processes.

Talent Management (Filled 3/16/26)

  • Responsibilities: Support Talent Management Strategic Business Partners as follows:
    • Recruitment and Retention
    • Labor Relations and Policy Management
    • Records Management, Retention, and Reporting
    • Regulatory Compliance
    • Performs other Business Strategy and related duties as required.
Payroll & Benefits (2nd Vacancy)

  • Responsibilities:
    • Collect payroll documents and entering information into payroll system.
    • Maintaining personnel files.
    • Tracking benefit time requests and benefit balances.
    • Schedule and conduct interviews, bid collection.
    • Submit new hire paperwork for approval.
    • Schedule and review physical results.
    • Coordinate start dates with all city and department sections.
    • Mail distribution.
    • Prepare bi-weekly OT reports.
    • Process personnel transactions that require approval.
    • Assist with managing leave of absences.
    • Assist employees with benefit enrollment and questions regarding benefits.
    • Performs other related duties as required
Employee Health, Safety, & Compliance (3rd Filled 3/16/26)

  • Responsibilities:
    • Prepare training materials and presentations.
    • Provide written and/or verbal updates to leadership on assigned projects.
    • Assist with HR budget development and section procurements including ordering supplies/materials, services, and processes requisitions and payments.
    • Promote and ensure compliance with occupational health and safety management policies, procedures, and programs to minimize employee accidents and to promote a safe work environment.
    • Performs other related duties as required.
Other

The responsibilities below are expectations for each of the three (3) positions listed above.

  • Maintain and update calendars, coordinate and arrange complex meetings, conference calls, webinars and events with internal and outside parties for leadership and assigned staff. Ensure all audio and visual equipment is functional prior to the start of every meeting.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and submit expense reports for HR leadership and assigned staff.
  • Receive and direct calls for the section as well as support all levels of leadership with clerical and administrative functions, as needed.
  • Maintain and monitor departmental operational policies and procedures that enforce ordinances, uphold regulatory rules and guidelines, and protect life and property at DPC facilities.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of organizational information.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with peers, leadership and team members. Foster a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement.
