What are the responsibilities and job description for the Refuse Truck Operator position at City of Cleveland Heights?

The Refuse Truck Operator's primary responsibility is to safely operate a one-man truck in connection with the daily pick-up of curbside refuse, recyclables, bulk and other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with an excellent driving record.
- Two years experience driving various types of vehicles including pick-up trucks and rear-end loaders preferred.
- Must be able to carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Must be able to perform heavy manual labor in all climatic conditions.
- Must have the ability to safely lift approximately 90 lbs. independently.
- Must be knowledgeable in the areas of traffic laws, rules and safety regulations.
- Must be reliable and assist in all other department activities as requested.
- Must have the ability to operate light equipment, snowplows, salt trucks and related equipment.
- Must also be available for emergencies requiring overtime hours of work and nine scheduled holiday makeup days.
- Reliable attendance is essential.
Salary : $49,920 - $57,637
