Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning and adminstering a specific project or program for a City department. Serves as the administrative supervisor on projects or programs. Plans, assigns, supervises, and reviews activities of subordinate personnel. Monitors the project or program's operating budget and assists in the annual preparation of same. Designs, implements, and monitors procedures utilized in program evaluation. Develops and secures commitments from other City departments and agencies to provide services to program participants. Provides technical assistance or reviews program policies and procedures. Maintains current information and oversees the preparation of project status reports. Prepares financial and narrative reports and program applications. Communicates project/program status and information to municipal officials and/or public and private entities. May supervise employees assigned to the respective project. Performs other related duties as required.A High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four year college or university in Business or Public Administration, Social Sciences, or closely related field preferred. Two (2) years of full-time, paid, progressively responsible experience in program administration is required. Must be able to lift and carry thirty (30) pounds. A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required.

Additional Duties And Tasks

  • Under administrative direction, is responsible for planning and administering a specific project or program for the City of Cleveland Community Relations Board.
  • Respond to shootings, violent incidents and or neighborhood feuds to prevent retaliatory shootings.
  • Respond to and develop partnerships hospitals, recreation centers, schools, neighborhoods and other areas as needed to provide alternative dispute resolution, crisis intervention and prevention strategies to diffuse potential conflicts and retaliatory violence (Primarily Shootings).
  • Develop regional strategies and partnerships to identify, engage and provide community interventions with individuals who have a high risk for involvement in gun violence, either as offenders and/or victims in areas with elevated levels of gun violence and violent crime.
  • Establish partnerships with families, community groups, non-traditional leaders, schools and others to identify individuals at high risk for gun violence or violent crime either as victims or offenders
  • Conduct initial screenings and interviews with youth and young adults to determine risk levels, family and associate dynamics and potential group member involved activity
  • Create individualized plans with identifiable goals to decrease involvement in group member involved activities, violent crime and gun violence.
  • Serve as an advocate for individuals that you engage and help facilitate activities and alternatives (jobs, education, recreation, etc.) to help them transition out of the high risk lifestyle.
  • Identify resources and make referrals to family members and associates.
  • Identify resources to refer at risk youth and young adults
  • Communicates project/program status and information to municipal officials and/or public and private entities.
  • Collect data and develop reports to help stakeholders analyze performance objectives and outcomes
  • On-call 24 hours, respond to notifications
  • Respond to referrals to nuisance properties and areas given by CRB supervisor.
  • Serve as a liaison with police district Peacemaker Alliance partners, activists, and other street outreach groups in assigned or designated area.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Preferred Skills

  • Reside in or have familiarity with targeted Cleveland neighborhoods and targeted populations is preferred
  • Intimate knowledge of group member involved individuals, root causes of neighborhood conflict and the ability to engage these individuals, gain their confidence and deter them from potentially violent activity.
  • Ability to develop relationships with bar/night club owners, barbershops/beauty salons and other non-traditional hangouts for at risk youth and young adults
  • CPR and first aid training is preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate effectively with at risk youth and young adults
  • Ability to work and navigate extremely intense environments
  • Effective verbal and written skills
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes emergency responses, late evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Must be knowledgeable in the use of computers and Microsoft Office Suites
