Expected Hiring Range: $28.53-$31.17 Hourly ($59,342-$64,833 annually)
Full Salary Range: $28.53-$39.84 Hourly ($59,342-$82,867 annually)

Specific Responsibilities
Most work is performed in a field environment involving working inside and outside of buildings and vehicles. Seasonal conditions can include excessive heat or cold, and may involve working in wet, muddy, slippery, dusty, or windy conditions. There is often exposure to moving traffic and equipment, and great attention to detail must be exercised when working safely in tight quarters or around other people. Normal hours are 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, M-F, but employees will need to be available for 24-hour call-back scheduling.

Specific Responsibilities
- Perform required maintenance duties including but not limited to:
- Maintenance of active play areas such as athletic fields, beaches, tennis/pickleball courts and skating rinks.
- Maintenance of outside facilities such as shelters, rest rooms, picnic tables and playground equipment.
- Responsible for all aspects of turf maintenance which includes mowing, irrigating, fertilizing, and chemical applications.
- Snow removal on trails, streets, sidewalks and public parking lots.
- Maintenance of all boulevard trees and shrubs including pruning, transplanting, fertilizing, purchasing.
- Maintains the park equipment and assist in keeping detailed service records on equipment.
- Assist with construction of play equipment in parks.
- Perform and assist in the repair of vehicles and equipment used to perform assigned duties.
- Perform assorted assignments within the public works area as needed to ensure the safety and protection of city residents and their property.
- Ability to be available for call back schedule or work outside normal operating hours as needed for special events, weather events, and other special circumstances.
- Other assigned duties within the parks, streets and utilities divisions.
- Education: High school education or equivalent.
- Experience: At least two years of experience in the operation of public works maintenance functions with an emphasis on park and recreation facilities or equivalent experience.
- License/Registrations: Valid Minnesota Class A driver’s license with tanker endorsement (or ability to obtain within six months).
- Perform general labor including frequently lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving more than 100 pounds.
- Work may routinely require the employee to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
- Employee may be required to push/pull equipment and/materials as required.
- Familiarity with basic turf maintenance principles.
- Basic knowledge of park equipment including tractors, trucks, small engines, mowers, etc.
- Familiarity with basic arboriculture such as tree and shrub identification.
- Basic knowledge of operating techniques for light and heavy equipment.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with city personnel, outside technical and professional personnel and general public.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Completion of a vocational program and/or apprentice training in mechanics or equipment operation.
- Familiarity with Cartegraph or other asset management software to assist with park assets and operations management.
- Special consideration will be given to candidates with experience installing, maintaining, and programming irrigation systems.
