Position: Museum Guide
Starting Pay: $15.45/hour
Schedule: Thursday–Saturday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
About the Position
The Museum Guide plays a key role in the operation of the Civil War Museum, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive visitor experience. This highly visible position requires professionalism, attention to detail, and a passion for history.
Key Responsibilities
- Open and close the museum during scheduled hours.
- Greet visitors, answer questions about exhibits, and enforce museum regulations.
- Arrange and conduct tours for schools and groups.
- Monitor exhibits and report maintenance needs.
- Handle souvenir sales, reconcile daily receipts, and maintain inventory.
- Assist with minor housekeeping and custodial needs.
- Protect City assets and maintain a safe environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 2–3 years of experience in a similar customer service or museum-related role.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact courteously with the public.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of office practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks.
Additional Requirements
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Missouri driver’s license.
- Must maintain a working telephone at place of residence.
