POSITION TYPE: Hourly, Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the maintenance of city parks, facilities and grounds.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Performs mowing, trimming and other lawn care of facilities and parks including turf care and chemical application.
- Maintains and repairs equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance of city parks and facilities.
- Provides oversight of part time staff when necessary.
- Performs landscaping and snow removal. Removes dead and hazardous trees.
- Removes trash.
- Cleans restrooms and shelters.
- Available to respond and work weekends and holidays, as needed. Participates in a weekend rotation to provide coverage of trash collection and shelter and bathroom cleaning.
- Assists senior level staff with construction projects and other related projects as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
- Knowledge of ground maintenance and landscaping practices.
- A demonstrated ability to work independent of direct supervision.
- Knowledge of cleaning practices.
- General knowledge in the operation of outdoor equipment used to maintain turf and landscaping including mowers, trimmers, pick-up trucks and other general tools.
- General knowledge of equipment maintenance.
- A demonstrated understanding of safety guidelines.
- The ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principals relevant to the major duties of the position.
- Qualified applicants must possess a valid driver’s license.
Salary per hour $16.52, plus a generous benefit package.
- Bi-weekly pay periods.
- Thirteen paid holidays per year.
- 96 hours of vacation – accrued throughout the year.
- 96 hours of sick leave – accrued throughout the year.
- 2 days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed on July 1 of the fiscal year to receive.
- City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance – Employee only.
- City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).
- Optional group term life insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
- Optional vision insurance purchased at employee’s expense.
- Voluntary deferred compensation plan – not matched by the City.

- Total compensation value (Hourly starting rate plus benefits value) for this position is $24.35 hourly.
