GENERAL PURPOSE
Support and lead indoor and outdoor recreational programs for children, youth, and families in a safe, engaging, and positive environment.
Supervision Received
- Works under the general supervision of the Recreation Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Plan, lead, and supervise participants in on-site and off-site recreational activities such as games, arts and crafts, fitness, outdoor play, and field trips.
- Prepare, set up, and clean up facilities and equipment before and after activities.
- Provide active supervision and guidance to participants; monitor behavior to ensure a safe and positive environment.
- Communicate with parents/guardians and staff as needed to support participant safety and success.
- Report facility, equipment, or safety concerns promptly to the Recreation Director.
- Assist with incident or accident reports.
- Support department special events, programs, and facility rentals as assigned.
- Occasionally perform light maintenance related to recreation spaces and equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Prior experience working with children in group settings such as camps, after-school programs, youth sports, or childcare.
- Strong ability to engage and communicate with children of different ages and backgrounds.
- Ability to manage group behavior, ensure safety, and respond calmly to emergencies.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must possess a valid State driver's license or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
- Must be First Aid and CPR certified or have the ability to obtain one withing six months of employment.
- One year or more of direct experience in youth programming, recreation leadership, or related fields.
