Under general supervision of the Community Recreation and Events Coordinator and/or Recreation Center Assistant, this position provides customer service support and performs entry-level clerical work to support the daily functions of the Recreation Center, including providing assistance in the planning, scheduling, and execution of recreational programs. Employees in this class are capable of greeting the public; responding to phone, email, and in-person inquiries; planning and implementing programs and events; providing general information to the public; and performing light janitorial duties. Employees in this class must be capable of resolving a wide range of non-routine issues and concerns that arise both internally and within the community. Performs related work as directed.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:- Deliver excellent customer service by greeting visitors and responding to telephone and in-person inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
- Provide assistance to the public regarding Recreation Center operations, parks, recreational programs, and related services.
- Assist with memberships, program registrations, facility reservations, payments, and general inquiries through in-person, phone, and email interactions.
- Support recreation staff in planning, organizing, and scheduling programs, classes, and special events.
- Assiss with preparing recreational program materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Assist with on-site setup, check-in, and breakdown for recreational programs and events.
- Monitor programs and activities to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for participants.
- Maintain accurate records of program attendance, registrations, and facility use.
- Promote recreation programs by assisting patrons and supporting outreach efforts.
- Perform light clerical duties such as data entry, filing, and preparing program documentation.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of program spaces and front desk areas.
- Ensure a clean, safe and orderly environment through light facility upkeep.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Special Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Regular and reliable attendance for the assigned work hours is required. Schedule includes evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on program and event needs. Time scheduled off should be managed so as to not interfere with accomplishing tasks, including special projects and assignments with deadlines.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred but not required.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in recreation, education, or related field preferred.
- One to two years of relevant experience working with the public, including children and families, preferred.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
- Possess a valid Texas Driver License with an acceptable driving record to be maintained throughout employment.
- CPR and AED Certification. Can be obtained when employed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Previous customer service or recreation program experience preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competent basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to learn registration and facility management software.
- Internet skills including use of Microsoft Outlook email and Teams messaging.
- Ability to work effectively with children, families, and the general public.
- Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to receive and follow oral and written instructions.
- Serve the public with professionalism, patience, tact, courtesy, and integrity.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, volunteers, and the public.
