Administrative Clerk
Pay Range: $25.97 - $34.64 per hour
The City of Attleboro is seeking Administrative Clerk for the Department of Public Works who under the supervision of the Superintendent of DPW, performs clerical, record keeping and customer service duties in accordance with City and department policies.
Duties include Acts as liaison between the public and the Department by responding to inquiries and complaints. Maintains appropriate records, compiles data and manages filing systems. Collects, stamps and sorts mail. Prepares a variety of correspondence, memoranda, forms and reports for department head. Schedules appoints and meetings. Performs follow up activities for meetings as directed by the department head. Maintains record of expenditures and allocations in preparation of revenue warrants. Prepares street opening permits. Processes all Chapter 90 invoices and reimbursements. Maintains log of all DPW claims. Assists in the preparation of the departmental budget. Maintains personnel records and prepares payroll, including snow and ice payrolls and contractual allowances. Maintains records of employees’ sick and vacation leave. Process bills and posts invoices. Responsible for recordkeeping for Sentry fuel system. Performs related work as required.
Requires a High School graduation with courses in office procedures, bookkeeping or related field. Four years’ experience in office setting performing progressively more responsible clerical and bookkeeping duties; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of office procedures and equipment. Skilled in word processing and other computer software applications, especially Microsoft Office. Ability to deal effectively with City employees, officials and the general public. Familiarity with City government and departmental operations. Comprehensive knowledge of the procedures and policies related to parking as governed by state statutes and local ordinances.
