General Description
This is a technical and administrative support position under the direction of the Public Services Office Manager, to efficiently purchase, stock and issue inventory of general inventory stock items and the distribution of those items to various departments throughout the City. In addition, this position will be required to issue purchase orders in accordance with City purchasing policy. Work is reviewed through observation, conversation and evaluation of results achieved.
Essential Job Functions
Communication equipment, (ie, radio, telephone) computers, copy machine, multi-line phone system, fax machine, photo, video and audio hardware, various hand tools and various motor vehicles.
Physical Requirements
Work involves very frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, writing, and typing, with attention to detail. Constant bending, stooping, speaking, sitting and climbing. Occasional kneeling, crawling and lifting 0 to 50 pounds. Work involves frequent exposure to heights, confined areas, excessive noise and occasional noxious fumes, chemicals and insects. Works occasionally in extreme weather.
JOB LOCATION
All City owned buildings, parks, grounds and recreation facilities. Any off-site locations and facilities utilized as part of the City's participation or involvement in an event, activity or job assignment.

Essential Job Functions
- Distribution of operating supplies and allocation of charges relative to the various users. The charging of parts to supply orders and identifying obsolete parts.
- The purchasing of all parts and supplies required for effective operations. The issuing of purchase orders. Pick up parts at vendors when necessary.
- Maintain inventory at necessary stocking levels to service departments effectively.
- Keep inventory storage room in a neat and orderly manner. Keep stock area clean.
- Responsible for writing Bid Documents for general inventory items, uniforms, safety shoes and establishing contracts for repeat purchases and responsible for the yearly inventory.
- Negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals.
- Maintaining Vendor Contacts.
- Interact with the suppliers on a day to day basis
- Performs any other duties or tasks that may be assigned.
- Requires initiative, judgment, knowledge of department practices, policy and organization including purchasing practices.
- Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures, business English, spelling, punctuation and accounting.
- Considerable knowledge of database management, computer skills, purchasing skills, inventory skills.
- Just-in time warehouse stocking procedure knowledge.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and with initiative.
- Ability to maintain files and related records.
- Experience with management of financial resources.
- Ability to perform varied clerical and related relations rapidly and accurately.
- Familiarity with computers and word processing, and learn all facets of software as may be utilized in the department for maximum utilization.
- Ability to deal with the general public in tense and sometimes difficult situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other departments and the public.
- Graduation from high school or recognized equivalent certification, including or supplemented with courses in business practices and typing.
- Five (5) years inventory control experience. Five (5) years parts and supply purchasing. A.S. Degree desired. Experience in typing and varied clerical work; word processing, spreadsheet and database software knowledge desirable.
- Must possess valid State of Florida driver's license.
- Forklift license within thirty (30) days of hire.
