Transitional Trauma Therapist

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITY:

Responsible to work directly with the Department of Children and Families’ Child Protective Investigator (CPI) to provide support and aid in clinical assessment during the course of the investigation. The Transitional Trauma Therapist also provides therapeutic services to children at the time of the removal from their parent/guardian’s custody. The Transitional Trauma Therapist provides trauma-focused interventions while ensuring child feels safe and while identifying child’s immediate needs. The Transitional Trauma Therapist also supports the parent/guardian with the transition and provides support to CPI during the removal.

EXAMPLE OF ACTUAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct required assessments of child/ren and families.
  • Conduct crisis intervention with child/ren that are removed, in a timely manner.
  • Develop appropriate intervention plan and therapeutic strategies in a timely manner based on client’s clinical presentation.
  • Work to develop alternative treatment strategies and recommendations for clients in conjunction with supervisory consultation.
  • Complete client’s related documentation within 24 hours of contact with patient.
  • Participate in collecting client data, assessing special needs, as indicated.
  • Able to document all clinical activities performed in a reliable, conscientious, and legible fashion.
  • Develop positive and responsive relationship with other programs/personnel, as well as with outside agencies, (i.e. DCF, Court, etc.).
  • On call rotation to conduct assessments as requested by Citrus FCN.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Master’s Degree in mental health related field, or its equivalent. Evidence of completion of course work in psychopathology, clinical interview, and psychotherapy.
  • At least one year of experience providing psychotherapy services.
  • Licensed Professional in the Human Services field, i.e., clinical psychologist, clinical social worker, family therapist, preferred.
  • Child Welfare experience preferred.

  • Able to establish and maintain an empathetic and therapeutic relationship with children and families.
  • Able to be open and non-defensive in supervision and quickly integrate the information dispensed in supervision/training.
  • Able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to attend mandatory in-service trainings within expected dates as defined by the agency’s policies and procedures.
  • Able to demonstrate complete familiarity with all aspects of the Department’s Service Plan and the Department’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Have thorough understanding of clinical language and terminology and utilizes this language/terminology in communicating clinical information to staff members/supervisors and within documentation.
  • Relates in a professional manner at all times.
  • Follows and adhere with confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate ability to navigate, update and input clinical information in client’s health record once training is completed.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to be organized, demonstrate multi-tasking skills, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative, while working in a team environment.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Must be punctual and have excellent attendance.
  • Actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Apply culturally sensitive and trauma-informed principles and practices.
  • Be up to date on mandatory in-service trainings as defined by Citrus FCN policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a positive and responsive relationship with other Citrus programs/personnel, as well as with outside agencies (i.e., DCF, DJJ, MDCPS, Court, etc.).
  • Knowledge of another language helpful, Spanish preferred.'
