JOB SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVE
This Commercial Lender position is responsible for providing a full range of commercial banking services including developing new business and client relationships. As a trusted advisor, this experienced lender should have knowledge of underwriting, structuring, and closing commercial loans in accordance with the Bank’s lending policies and philosophies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position performs the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Develops new customer prospects and business for the financial institution.
- Analyzes the credit history of applicants and determines their loan repayment capabilities.
- Negotiates credit terms, loan repayment methods and collateral specifications.
- Evaluates loan requests based on bank policies and makes loan recommendations to management.
- Reviews new laws and regulations that influence business lending within the financial institution and makes recommendations to management when necessary.
- Handles inquiries from applicants and branch personnel. May assist in resolution of customer issues.
- Meets performance/production goals determined by management.
- Represents the financial institution in public relations activities and community affairs.
- Performs other duties assigned by Market President, Regional President and other executive management.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related area, preferred but not required.
- Three to five years’ experience in a commercial banking position.
- Extensive experience in business and client development.
- Commercial credit underwriting knowledge.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial lending policies and procedures.
- Above average sales, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend training materials, bank communications and related loan manuals.
- Ability to learn and follow all bank policies.
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other common PC-based software.
