Machinist II - Tool Cutter - 1st Shift

POSITION DETAILS 

Position Summary

This position will plan and construct tools, jigs, fixtures, gages, cutters, templates, masters, rotors, master cams and other related equipment.

Principal Activities

• Setup and operate vertical knee and column mills, horizontal spindle mills, manual engine lathes, reciprocating grinders, rotary table grinders, drill sharpeners, cutter grinders, cylindrical grinders, vertical and horizontal band saws, and bench grinders using micrometers and calipers for measurement.
• Position will machine jigs and fixtures using tool room equipment.  
• Use AutoCAD to make basic tooling drawings.
• Secure parts & assemble fixtures as required so that all tooling is complete ready for machining as scheduled.
• Sharpen a variety of tools to get them back to useable shape.
• Recognize & immediately correct, without assistance, machining difficulties & errors, or cause to have corrected if fault is due to machine tools, equipment or material

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

• Ability to work from blueprints to machine jigs and fixtures.
• Ability to use AutoCAD to perform basic drawings.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Requires minimum of 3 years of tool-making experience
• Complete accredited apprenticeship in a recognized trade, craft, or occupation or a 1-year technical college education.
