Configuration Management Specialist - (ACMS092326.1)

Cimarron is seeking a Configuration Management Specialist who will be responsible for overall definition, implementation, and execution of Configuration Management. This position is located 100% onsite in Houston, TX. The selected candidate will execute configuration management across the full lifecycle of complex spaceflight systems, including concept development, design, integration, verification, certification, operations, and sustainment.  This position will serve as the technical authority and subject matter expert for configuration management processes, methods, tools, and governance. You will work closely with Systems Engineering, Program Management, Chief Engineers, Safety and Mission Assurance, Software, Hardware, Integration and Test, Mission Operations, and customer organizations to ensure that the technical baseline remains controlled, traceable, accurate, and aligned with program requirements.

Key Duties:

• Serve as the organization's senior technical leader and subject matter expert for configuration management.
• Establish and maintain CM policies, standards, processes, procedures, and technical guidance for spaceflight programs.
• Provide technical interpretation and implementation guidance for applicable NASA, customer, industry, and company configuration management requirements.
• Develop scalable CM approaches appropriate for programs ranging from early concept development through flight operations.
• Provide technical mentoring and guidance to configuration management personnel and engineering teams.
• Identify and implement configuration management best practices, lessons learned, and process improvements across programs.
• Lead the establishment, maintenance, and control of program technical baselines.
• Ensure that configuration information provides complete traceability from requirements and design through manufacturing, integration, verification, certification, delivery, and operations.
• Establish methods for uniquely identifying and controlling configuration items and associated technical data.
• Ensure configuration identification practices support digital engineering and model-based systems engineering environments where applicable.
• Supports disciplined technical change-control processes and implements configuration control.
• Ensure proposed changes are evaluated for downstream configuration impacts before approval and implementation.
• Establish configuration status accounting capabilities that provide program leadership with authoritative visibility.
• Ensure configuration information can support technical reviews, audits, anomaly investigations, mission readiness assessments, and certification activities.
• Plan and lead configuration verification activities and formal configuration audits as required.
• Ensure the delivered product configuration agrees with approved design documentation and that required verification evidence is complete and traceable.

Required Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Due to facility security requirements, only U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible for consideration at this time.
• Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
• Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones
• 2 or more years of experience. 
• Significant experience supporting complex aerospace, defense, spacecraft, launch vehicle, avionics, software-intensive, or similarly regulated engineering programs.
• Demonstrated experience with configuration identification, change control, configuration status accounting, and configuration verification/audits.
• Experience establishing and controlling complex technical baselines.
• Experience participating in or leading Configuration Control Boards.
• Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze the system-level impact of engineering changes.
• Strong technical communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Management, or a related technical discipline.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

• Experience supporting NASA human spaceflight, robotic spacecraft, launch vehicle, payload, ground system, or mission operations programs.
• Experience applying NASA systems engineering and program/project management requirements.
• Knowledge of SAE/EIA-649 configuration management principles.
• Experience supporting SRR, PDR, CDR, SIR, TRR, SAR, ORR, or FRR lifecycle reviews.
• Experience with hardware/software integrated configuration management.
• Experience implementing CM within MBSE or digital engineering environments.
• Experience with PLM/PDM, requirements management, ALM, CAD, and software configuration-management toolchains.
• Experience managing supplier and subcontractor configuration requirements.
• Experience with flight hardware pedigree, effectivity, serialization, and as-built/as-flown configuration management.
