Job Description
$75000 - $85000 / year
The Payroll Specialist will process weekly payroll and maintain employee time records. They will work directly with field teams to assist with payroll needs. Responsible for weekly reporting and auditing.
Primary Objectives:
Assist with processing the bi-weekly payroll and all related tasks, with the goal of knowing all aspects of our payroll
Ensure compliance with internal policies, government regulations, and payroll principles; research new or proposed labor laws and payroll best practices to educate the broader team and make suggestions for changes/improvements.
Collaborate Be a knowledge resource, support, and advocate for employees and managers for all things Payroll related.
Communicate efficiently with the direct payroll team daily, while also working cross-functionally with the People Team, other departments, and third-party vendors when necessary.
Duties/Responsibilities(Includes but is not limited to):
Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system or other company-related systems; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, garnishments, internal audits, reporting, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
Process New Hire, Change, and Termination requests in the payroll system, and assist in ensuring all related administrative tasks have been completed
Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other deductions.
Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions and employee files
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
Identifies and recommends updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned, including ongoing support for the Peoples Team and our field teams
Address questions and resolve issues from employees/managers/vendors/etc., going the extra mile when able to
Ongoing communication with the Payroll Manager to determine project prioritization and task execution and provide updates
Assist with managing the payroll inbox and contact requests
Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
Have a working knowledge of the stores, their offerings, how they operate, and their staff procedures.
