As a Medical Device CNC Machining Specialist, you’ll transform engineered designs into precision components that meet demanding medical standards. Your craftsmanship and problem-solving will directly support the reliability of life-saving imaging equipment.A Day in the LifeYou start by reviewing blueprints and engineering notes, mapping out the order of operations. With a plan in hand, you set up a mill or lathe, secure tooling and fixtures, and verify offsets. Throughout the run, you watch feeds and speeds, make thoughtful adjustments, and inspect each part to tight tolerances. If something goes off-nominal, you dig in—troubleshoot, program, refine. By day’s end, your machines are serviced, your documentation is crisp, and your parts meet spec.What You’ll TackleWork within our Quality Management System and Environmental, Health & Safety standards, ensuring strong documentation, GMP adherence, and safe practices.Determine dimensions and tolerances using precise tools like micrometers and vernier calipers.Produce parts to specification on lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders.Set up, adjust, and operate both standard and specialized machine tools for accurate machining operations.Align and secure fixtures, tooling, attachments, and materials before cutting.Inspect finished units for defects and conformance with precision instruments (e.g., micrometers).Monitor and optimize machine feed and speed during operations.Keep machine tools in excellent working order and perform routine care.Study samples, prints, drawings, and engineering data to define the best sequence of operations.Run equipment to confirm operational efficiency and performance.Ensure workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled.Program CNC equipment and related electronic controls (including G-code) as needed.Diagnose machine tool issues and determine when adjustments or repairs are required.Collaborate with engineering, supervisors, and manufacturing teams to share technical insights.Lay out, measure, and mark stock to indicate cut locations.Fit and assemble parts to build or repair machine tools.Contribute to additional tasks and projects as assigned.Tools, Tech, and ProcessesCNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC) and CNC Mill (5 axis VMC)CNC Lathe (2–4 axis) and CNC Lathe (5 axis)CAM software for programming and toolpathingWhat You BringHigh school diploma or equivalent; machining certificate/technical degree preferred.Hands-on experience as a machinist in both CNC and manual environments.Solid grasp of materials and machining fundamentals.Ability to read drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.Meticulous attention to detail and a solutions mindset.Clear communication and a collaborative approach.Technical MasteryGD&T fluency and production setup expertiseG-code programming and CAM workflowsCNC tooling selection and optimizationEquipment troubleshooting, installation, and repairManual machining skills for one-off or repair workPhysical Demands & Work EnvironmentRegularly stand, walk, use hands to handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk/hear; occasionally sit, climb/balance, stoop/kneel/crouch/crawl.Frequently lift up to 25 lbs; occasionally lift up to 100 lbs.Regular work near moving mechanical parts; frequent exposure to fumes/airborne particles and risk of electrical shock; occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and radiation.Join a team where precision craftsmanship fuels medical innovation—and where your work is measured not only in microns, but in patient impact.
