What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operation Supervisor position at CHM Industries, Inc.?
About the Company
CHM Industries, Inc. is a vertically integrated manufacturer of steel monopole and advanced lighting products. CHM, a leader in lighting and steel structures since 1996, offers our clients quality products designed, manufactured, and supported within the United States at our Dallas-Fort Worth facilities.
We are seeking a hungry, hands-on Operations Supervisor to own shop-floor operational compliance and ERP transaction execution.
This is a highly visible shop-floor role. The Supervisor will work directly with Work Center Leads to ensure established operating procedures are followed, required ERP transactions are completed accurately and on time, and the company's digital records accurately reflect activity on the floor.
Responsibilities
· Operational Compliance: Maintain a strong shop-floor presence and hold Work Center Leads accountable for adherence to established processes, procedures, and operating standards.
· ERP Execution: Own the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of shop-floor transactions, including work orders, completions, labor, materials, scrap, inventory movements, and other required activity.
· Auditing & Accountability: Regularly reconcile physical activity to the ERP system, identify discrepancies or non-compliance, and drive timely corrective action.
· Leadership & Training: Establish expectations, coach Work Center Leads on operational and ERP requirements, and maintain consistent accountability.
· Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to strengthen operational discipline, simplify processes, improve transaction accuracy, and close gaps between the physical operation and the ERP system.
· Cross-Functional Coordination: Work with appropriate internal teams and stakeholders to resolve operational, transaction, and system issues.
Leadership Structure
The Operations Supervisor owns operational compliance and ERP execution.
Work Center Leads own their personnel, including staffing, daily direction, coaching, attendance, and employee performance.
The Supervisor does not replace the Work Center Leads as personnel managers. Instead, the Supervisor ensures that Leads are effectively managing their areas and that their teams follow established operational and ERP processes.
Ideal Candidate
We want someone who is hungry, accountable, detail-oriented, and action-oriented; someone who naturally spends time on the shop floor, is comfortable holding Work Center Leads accountable, understands the connection between physical activity and ERP transactions, and is persistent about identifying and correcting discrepancies.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable walking the floor, challenging a process, auditing a transaction, and working through an ERP issue.
Success in This Role
The right person creates operational discipline.
Shop-floor processes are followed, Work Center Leads are accountable, ERP transactions are accurate and timely, and physical activity remains aligned with the company's digital records.
Qualifications
· 3 years of manufacturing or operations experience with prior leadership or supervisory responsibility.
· Demonstrated shop-floor experience and strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
· ERP experience; NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
· Strong attention to detail, communication, follow-through, and accountability.
· Ability to audit operational activity, identify discrepancies, and drive corrective action.
